Introduction
VPN
Virtual Private Network (VPN): It is a technology used to interconnect two or more private networks located in different sites or to connect a remote client to a company's network.
PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol): Utilizes port 1723 in TCP.
Note: It is necessary to have a public or dynamic IP to perform port forwarding of the port.
Configuration
1.- Access our router and select the "Router or Gateway" tab.
*If it has the default IP, it is 192.168.110.1.
2.- Select the VPN -> PPTP section.
Enable the option
3.- Fill in the following parameters as follows:
PPTP Type: Choose whether to work as a VPN Server or Client. (Server)
Local Tunnel IP: The IP that this device will have within the VPN tunnel segment.
IP Range: DHCP range that will be assigned to clients connecting to the VPN.
DNS Server: You can use Google's DNS servers.
MPPE: Data encryption (only used with IPSec).
Flow Control: Prevent congestion and ensure efficient data transmission
Keep-Alive Interval: A short interval, such as 10 seconds.
Save changes.
4.- We are going to generate our clients, which can be "LAN to LAN" or "LAN to PC" Go to the VPN -> VPN Clients section and add a new user.
- Add a VPN user for PC:
Service Type: Enabled protocol (PPTP)
Username: Identify the user (Any desired username without spaces)
User Password: Enter the password for the VPN client
Network Mode: PC to router
Status: Enable
- Add a VPN user for LAN to LAN:
Service Type: Enabled protocol (PPTP)
Username: Identify the user (Any desired username without spaces)
User Password: *******
Network Mode: Router to router
Same Level Subnet: Network segment that the client router manages
Status: Enable
Verification
If you are going to configure the Router to Router with another Ruijie, you can follow the VPN Client manual.
If you are connecting a real PC client, perform the configuration according to the operating system used on the VPN client.
