INTRODUCTION

VLAN

802.1Q Standard, Virtual Local Area Network. It is a way to divide a computer network into logical subnetworks so that devices in a VLAN can only communicate with other devices in the same VLAN. This can be done without the need to physically separate devices into different networks. A VLAN can be used to separate different departments within a company, to separate users from different workgroups, or for any other reason where it is necessary to limit communication between network devices.

This time, VLANs are being configured on the RG-EG210G-E model, which allows up to 7 VLANs plus VLAN 1 (default).

CONFIGURATION

1. Access the device with the following default data:

- IP Address: 192.168.110.1

- Password: (This is created the first time you access the device).

2. After entering our credentials, we can access the Router Dashboard. On the left side, we can see the following menu, select "Router".

3. It will open the configuration options, select the following path to go to the VLAN section:

Basics -> LAN

4. Click on the add button to create our VLAN with the desired parameters.

5. Fill in the fields as follows.

For example:

VLAN ID: 16

Network: 10.10.16.0/24

Gateway: 10.10.16.1

NOTE: The IP count is the number of IPs that DHCP server will assign.

6. Once the VLANs are configured, the information will appear as follows.

7. In the "Basics -> VLAN Port" section, we can see the information about the VLANs.

In Ruijie, we can configure how VLANs operate on our LAN ports.

For example, VLAN 16 will be tagged on port 5 so that everything connected to that port operates on that network.

We need to mark VLAN 1 "Default" as TAG to be able to untag VLAN 16.

With this, we conclude our configuration.

VERIFICATION

By connecting our PC to port 5, we verify that it assigns an IP from that network.

With this, we complete our configuration.
