Setting up a Mesh Network

Create a Mesh Network

  • Step 1: Configure your first AP and create an SSID

  • Step 2: Power on/configure the second AP

  • Step 3: Set up the mesh network

Step 1: Configure your first AP/Create an SSID

  • Scan the QR code for setup instructions. Once the AP is adopted in the controller, create your SSID.

    • On the configuration page, select "Add new." Assign a name to your SSID, set a password/passwords, make sure to assign a color to this SSID. This is important as the color defines which SSID the access points will broadcast.

Step 2: Power on the second AP and configure

  • Using only PoE, connect the AP with an Ethernet cable. You only need to supply power to this second unit. You will see the AP show up in the controller. Proceed with the configuration.

Step 3: Set up the mesh network

  • Once the second AP has received power and is configured, assign it the same color you assigned to the SSID. This tells the AP to use this SSID and it will automatically mesh with the first AP.

If the second AP is not assigned a color, it doesn't know which AP to mesh with. This is a very important step.
