Introduction:
This configuration is only for the following ES devices:
QoS (Quality of Service) allows us to prioritize certain data traffic to specific clients (by clients, we mean different devices connected to the same network). This can be done on both routers and layer 2 manageable switches.
Limiting our ports helps us better manage the speed of clients connected to them and is a way to save processing power on the router by not generating QoS over IP/Segment.
Configuration:
1. The first step is to access the device, which has the following default data:
- IP: 10.44.77.200
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
Note: If the switch is under an SMB Router, the device will inherit the username and password from the router, as well as receive an IP address via DHCP.
2. On the left side, you will find the following menu; you should access the following path:
QoS Settings -> Port Rate
3. Next, it will display the following interface, where we will configure the port speeds:
You should fill in the data as follows:
Port: Select the port(s).
Type: Choose the option depending on the service you want to limit:
Input: This refers to limiting only the download, not the upload.
Output: This refers to limiting only the upload, not the download.
All: This will limit both upload and download.
Status: If you want to enable the rule, click on "enable" or "disable" to deactivate any rule that has been created.
Rate (Mbit/Sec): Select the speed per port in megabits.
For example:
We save the changes, and it will look like this:
Verify that the changes have been applied successfully.
With this, your configuration will be complete.
