In this article, we will be able to learn the steps of the configuration, exclusively for Ruijie SMB devices:

INTRODUCTION

Policy-Based Routing (PBR) is a technique that forwards and routes data packets based on policies or filters. Network administrators can selectively apply policies based on specific parameters such as source or destination IP address, source or destination port, traffic type, protocols, access list, packet size, or other criteria, and route packets on user-defined paths.

Example:

It is necessary to send traffic from a specific IP through a specific WAN when dealing with 2 or more service providers since they are working as load balancing.

Load Balancing Configuration

CONFIGURATION

1. Access our router and select the "Router" or "Gateway" tab (Depending on the language setting of your device).

*If the default IP is 192.168.110.1*

2. Within the interface, navigate to the following path to create the routing rule:

Gateway -> Advanced -> Routing -> PBR (Policy-Based Routing)

Press "Add" and input the parameters as follows:

  • Name: Identify the rule.

  • Protocol Type: IP.

  • Source IP Range (Src): Enter the IP or IP range you want to route.

  • Destination IP Range/Destination IP: Leave it as default to route all traffic to the output interface.

  • Output Interface: Select the WAN interface through which you want to exit.

CHECKING

Perform the test with a traceroute to verify through which WAN interface the device is exiting.
