Sometimes it is necessary to reset our equipment to factory defaults, especially when a change of administration was made and the previous administration did not share users or credentials of the equipment. Usually, you choose to press the Reset button, but some switch models do not have that physical button, so you must resort to a console cable connection and by means of a command to reset to factory defaults.

Unfortunately, when this process is done, all the configuration of the equipment is lost and it must be reconfigured. In the case of Ruijie Enterprise series switches, this process can be followed to reset it:

1.- Connect via console

We can review that procedure in this article:

2.- Enter Device Menu

Once we are connected by console cable to the "Console" port of the switch we must run our serial communication software, in our case we will use Tera Term and connect to the designated COM port of our cable. Press the "Enter" key to start and then run the "enable" command to access the switch configuration to access the switch configuration.

If it is the first time that we access the console port of the switch, it will not ask for an access credential or it will ask to create a new one, this credential is different from the IP access credential, and its web interface, it is important to save it although after the reset even this credential will be lost.

3.- Execute the reset command

Once the switch is enabled we must execute the command "delete config.text" It will ask us if we are sure, we put the letter "y" and hit "Enter" after the operation is finished we execute the command "reload" to restart the switch and in the same way we indicate it with "y" to restart.

4.- Re-login to the Switch

Once the reboot is finished we should be able to access the switch through its management port, its factory IP is 192.168.1.200, and the admin/admin access credentials to change them later.

Note:

The Managment port password and the console port password are not the same, in this article, the console port was accessed through the console port in order to reset the Managment port password so if the console port password has been forgotten or changed a different process is required.

The console port password will also be removed with this process.
